Taking things for granted versus gratitude

Taking things for granted versus gratitude

Gijs Van Wezel

One easily forgets the importance of being aware of gratitude for the daily things that are going well. It is truly wonderful how recognizing this power of gratitude can positively impact our health, spirit, and relationships.

One of the things I am most grateful for is the daily effort my children make to stay in contact with me. Despite having young kids, busy work lives, and living in a timezone six hours apart, they still manage to reach out almost every day. Reflecting on this, I can't help but regret not having maintained the same routine with my own parents.

Another aspect of my life that I am grateful for is life itself. The self-healing abilities of my body, the marvel of my organs, and the presence of supportive friendships all fill me with gratitude.

My intention is to prioritize gratitude over problems. By doing so, I aim to cultivate a mindset that appreciates the positives in life and acknowledges the blessings I have. This perspective fosters resilience and a more optimistic outlook overall.
